Do logos really matter for music artists?

Interesting article from Digital Music News which raises the question on how much impact an artist’s logo really has on fans.

In a joint research project, DMN and Jakprints looked at over 1,000 chart-topping acts by genre and compared the percentage of acts with, and without logos.

The Rock (71%), Metal (76%) and Hip-Hop (61%) genre’s topped the list, with the majority using logos to enhance their brand. However, Indie (68%), Pop (73%), Latin (69%), Blues (76%) and especially Singer/Songwriter’s (86%), had none.
